NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Memorial Services for Mr. Dennis Harold Hughes, 60, who entered into rest February 21, 2015, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Masonic Rites will be accorded. Rev. Louie Doan officiating.
Mr. Hughes was a life-long resident of North Augusta and a member of the Belvedere Masonic Lodge #388 A.F.M., and the Augusta Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.). He was currently employed with Mitchell Engineering and Electrical and worked for 25 years at DuPont at the Savannah River Site. Mr. Hughes served in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1979. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Harold and Helen Jeanene Hughes.
Dennis' joy in life was loving and caring for his family and friends. You knew if you ever had the privilege of meeting this man just once, then a friend you had forever. He always strived for perfection and could never do enough for everyone. He enjoyed teaching his son-in-law Brett, who he thought of as his own son. He loved his girls but his greatest joy was born in 2011, his granddaughter. Tears of joy flowed that day. From that point forward, Fridays could not get here fast enough so he could ride I-20 to be with his bundle of joy.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years Merilyn W. Hughes; two daughters, Jennifer Hughes, Charleston, SC and Sarah Stroup (Brett), Dawsonville, GA; a granddaughter, Kiersten Avery Stroup; a brother, Charles David Hughes (Julie), Belvedere, SC ;a sister, Amy Hughes Stepp (John), Duluth, GA;a brother-in-law, Eddie Wilson (Gayle); a sister-in-law, Anita Doan (Rev. Louie Doan); several nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Belvedere Masonic Lodge #388 A.F.M.
