Dewitt Talmadge Elliott , Jr
COWPENS - Dewitt Talmadge Elliott, Jr., 91, of 860 Swofford Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Donna Ann Martin Elliott and son of the late Dewitt Talmadge Elliott, Sr. and Odell Elizabeth Wilson Elliott. He retired from Savannah River Sight as Captain of Security after 35 years of service and was a U. S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of the VFW Blacksburg Post, an avid hunter, loved fishing and golf, and loved his family. He was a former member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and present member of The .
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Larry Dewitt Elliott and wife, Gaye of Gaffney and Jackie Bay Elliott and wife, Susan of Blacksburg; two daughters, Janet Elliott Painter of Landrum and Betsi Elliott Ballard and husband, Steve of Beech Island; a special grandson raised in the home, Joshua Dewitt Ramirez and wife, Halee of Blacksburg; step-children, Tommy Clawson and wife, Tracy of Boiling Springs; Christine C. Dewar and husband, Duncan of Thonotosassa, FL, Tamara C. Miller of Spartanburg, Katie C. McClelland and husband, Matthew of Dallas, TX, Keith LeGrande Clawson and wife, Katherine of Cowpens and Lori C. Boisher and husband, Greg of Fountain Inn; 14 grandchildren, Chad, Bryan, Jeremy, Derrick, Jeremy Martin, Stacy, Jessica, Mara, April, Josh, Caroline, Ryan, Sarah and Phillip; 14 step-grandchildren, Joel, Blake, Andrew, Maria, Emily, Brianna, Brittany, Brody, Kendall, Kaidence, Keith, Monica, Dillion and Gavin; 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-daughter Marie Clawson and two brothers, Carlton Elliott and Thomas Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chad Wisher, Elder Kyle Courtney and Mrs. Katie McClelland officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens with military honors by the American Legion Post 28.
