Easley - Dorothy "Dotty" Jean Nichols Ketzenberg Yapell, 72, of Easley, wife of Lawrence "Larry" Yapell, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Born in Washington D.C., she was a daughter of the late Harry Edwin and Dorothy Turner Nichols.
Dotty retired from The Eye Associates in Bradenton, FL and was a Guardian Ad Litem in Aiken, SC. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Easley, where she was very involved in the Ladies Bible Study.
Dotty loved exotic birds, reading to children, cake decorating, and sculpting. She enjoyed crocheting for the Piedmont Women's Center.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Valerie Lee Sikkema Palmer and husband, Wade, Yvonne Lynne Sikkema Orosa and husband, Joel, Tanya Lorine Sikkema Mitchell, Dale Loren Sikkema, Vanessa Lenore Sikkema Grimes and husband, Scott, and Kerri Larissa Ketzenberg Spicer and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Kevin, Bryson, Ryan and Christine Orosa; Peter, Timothy, Nicholas, and Geoffrey Mitchell; and Dale, Jr., Isaac, and Eden Sikkema; sisters, Janet Spicer, Beth Griggs, and Fran Wrenn; and first husband, Carl Dean Sikkema.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Russell Rodger Ketzenberg.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Easley.
