Eleanor Boulware
ROCK HILL, SC - Mrs. Eleanor S. Boulware, 86, of 1766 Ridgefield Ct, died on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
Born in Augusta, GA, Mrs. Boulware was a daughter of the late James Fraser Sofge and the late Mary Simons Sofge. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill where she served on the Fellowship and Congregational Care Committees. She was also a member of the French Huguenot Society of SC. She graduated from Aiken High School and attended Winthrop College. She was employed in the Aquatics Department at the Rock Hill YMCA where she taught water exercise classes. Known there as "Miss Ellie", she also taught hundreds of children the joy of swimming.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary B. Mallaney and her sister-in-law, Joanne Boulware, both of Rock Hill; nine nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends.
Mrs. Boulware was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Richard Hugh Boulware, Jr. and an infant son, Richard H. Boulware, III; her sister, Isabelle S. Huntley; and her brother, J.F. Sofge, Jr., who remained a resident of Aiken, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Mark T. Verdery and the Rev. Dr. Craig C. Butler officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses of the 4th floor Acute Care Unit at Piedmont Medical Center for their care and concern for Mrs. Boulware; and thanks also to the nurses at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. They all recognized Mrs. Boulware as the very special lady we all know her to be!
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Mrs. Boulware's name to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1011, Rock Hill, SC 29731; the Salvation Army, 119 Charlotte Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29730; or to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
In lieu of food, the family request donations be made in Mrs. Boulware's name to Hope House, 411 Park Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29730; area food banks or soup kitchens of one's choice.
