Elmo Luke Percle
AIKEN, SC - Mr. Elmo Luke Percle, 94, husband of the late Bettye Griffin Percle, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014.
Born in and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, until 1941, he was a son of the late Luke and Adele Broussard Percle. A World War II Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United Sates Army as a Paratrooper Trainer, earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS in accounting. He retried from the Department of Energy at the Savannah River Site, where he was an Accountant. Mr. Percle was a member of First Presbyterian Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking and reupholstering furniture.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include daughters, Beth (Kin) Purvis, Aiken, SC, Rebecca Smith, Aiken, SC and the late Jan Swing, brother, Malcolm Percle, Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter, Rachel (Tim) McCracken, Virginia Beach, VA and great-grandchildren, Abie and Parker Green, Virginia Beach, VA.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Percle will be cremated and a private service will be held.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the Beaufort County Open Land Trust, P.O. Box 75 Beaufort, SC 29901.
