Mr. Eugene Blackwell
AIKEN - Mr. Eugene Blackwell, beloved husband of 58 years to Mrs. Martha McIntosh Blackwell, entered into rest on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
Born in Pelion, SC to the late Cellus and Annie Mae Gunter Blackwell, he retired from Bechtel at Savannah River Site with 30 years of service. With fishing and shooting being some of his hobbies, he was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the North Augusta Boating Club. He so loved his Kubota Tractor, especially giving the grandbabies a ride on it. He was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and their Richard Bragg Sunday School Class. Anything he touched, he could repair. If he took it apart, he would always put it back together in perfect working order - even if a couple of screws were left over. Other than his beloved wife and family, music, namely gospel music, was his passion. He with his guitar in hand, performed in venues from all parts of the area including volunteering with St. John Tower in Augusta, GA only asking for good fried chicken and macaroni and cheese as "payment".
Family members include his loving wife, Mrs. Martha McIntosh Blackwell, of Aiken, SC; his beloved son, the late Darrin Blackwell; a sister, Cornelia Rankin (Curtis), of Monetta, SC; a brother, Wylie Blackwell (Myrtle), of Aiken, SC; two grandchildren: Brandon Andrew Blackwell, North Augusta, SC and Lauren Blackwell Turner(Cody), of Martinez, GA and two precious great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Skylar Turner, Of Martinez, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 o'clock in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Clint Smith Officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
