Eva Bell Athey
Aiken, S.C. - Eva Bell Athey, age 96, of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late Johnnie F. Athey and daughter of the late John Pickens Bell and the late Lena Mae Cushman Bell, answered God's call and went to be with Jesus on Monday, May 12, 2014. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Julian and Lenora Bell of Aiken, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Willie P. Bell, Charles E. Bell, John T. Bell and James D. Bell.
She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Aiken, and she was also a member of the Lib Chandler Ladies' Sunday School Class. She loved her Lord and Savior, her family and children with all of her heart. Her hobbies included watching the Atlanta Braves, crocheting, gardening, reading and working crossword puzzles. She shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the ninety-six precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, life for her has not ended, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe and trust in him. She has just finished life's journey and is now at peace with her maker. Earth's loss is truly Heaven's gain.
A service, celebrating her life, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mike Catoe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Aiken, S.C. The Pallbearers will be Colby Williford, Brent Bearden, Chris Willis, Michael Lewis, James Peeples and Norman Egbert.
Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
