Dr. Gayle Lee
Dr. Gayle Sims Lee, 60, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at her home.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Higher Ground Church. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Steve Jacks officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Lancaster, S.C. and raised in Kershaw and Great Falls, Gayle was a daughter of Shirley Twitty Sims and the late James Edward Sims (1989). She received her Bachelors and Master's Degrees from the University of South Carolina, and later received her Ph.D. from Argosy University in Florida. Gayle was an educator for 31 years ending her career at Indian Land Elementary School and was a member of Higher Ground Church. She loved genealogy and enjoyed square dancing, playing Bunko, traveling and attending her grandchildren's swim meets, recitals and programs.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Eugene Lee; her daughters, Rebecca Gambrell Harper (Will Harper) of Aiken and Mary Grace Williams of Indian Land; her sisters, Vickie Vincent of Kershaw, Linda Wright of Conway, Cindy Taylor of Richburg and Stacy Smith of Great Falls; and grandchildren, Amelia, Macy Belle and Vin Harper and Emmett Williams; her stepson, Jamison Lee; and her stepdaughter, Cindy Lee. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Dean Sims (1959).
