AIKEN - Lt. Colonel George B. Jackson Jr., US Army (Ret.), age 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Lt. Colonel Jackson was born October 8, 1936 in Laurel, MS to the late George B. Jackson Sr. and Evelyn A. Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a graduate of University of Mississippi, he then proudly served his country in the US Army for twenty years, he received the Bronze star among many other awards and decorations. He retired in 1978 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After retirement he worked at the Savannah River Plant.
He is survived by Margaret Goggans, his beloved companion of 25 years; two children, Mark Jackson (Raquel), Lexington, SC and Amy Burnham (Allen), Warrenville, SC; two grandchildren, Judy Jackson and Courtney Thompson (Dillon); and one great-grandchild, Caleb Thompson.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 1st, 2017 in Southlawn Cemetery. Chaplain Michael Sides will officiate.
