Gerald "Jake" Scruggs
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Graveside Services for Mr. Gerald "Jake" Scruggs, 86, who entered into rest September 7, 2014, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors. Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating.
Mr. Scruggs was a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, having made North Augusta his home for the past 35 years. He was a US Navy Veteran and member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Mr. Scruggs was a former member and Deacon of Clanton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He retired as a foreman with Bechtel at the Savannah River site with 15 years of service and was a member and former business manager of Local 238 for over 35 years. Mr. Scruggs was a hard worker who enjoyed reading and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Helen W. Scruggs; two daughters, Mitzi Hawkins and Angie Dahl, both of North Augusta, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Cindy Scruggs, North Augusta, SC; four grandchildren, Stephanie Benton, Ryan Hawkins, Adam Scruggs and Jeremy Scruggs; four great-grandchildren, Amber Scruggs, Callie Hawkins, Landon Scruggs and Brooke Benton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.
