Harriett Hussey
AIKEN - Longtime former Aiken resident Harriett Hussey passed away Friday, May 26 in Cincinnatti, Ohio after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. She was 86. Harriett was the daughter of Samuel and Lilla Breeland of Holly Hill, SC. She studied music at Transylvania College and Atlantic Christian College. She married the late Wesley Hussey of St. George, SC. She is survived by her brother Walter Breeland, Greensboro NC; Sons Ken Hussey, Atlanta Ga and John Hussey, Frankfurt Germany; and daughters Ann Rinaldi, Cincinnatti, Ohio and Susan Beckwith, Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She has 6 grandchildren. Harriett was a piano teacher in Aiken for over 50 years and was very active in the local music scene playing for weddings, funerals, plays, accompanying students, etc. She was also a church organist and played at numerous Aiken churches during her career including St Johns Methodist, First Baptist Church and Bethlehem Lutheren. In addition to her homemaking duties, she was an active tennis player and tournament bridge player. She obtained a goal later in life of bridge life master. The family will have a private service for her later this year in Holly Hill, SC. You may send condolences to [email protected] and they will be forwarded to all family members.
