Harrington Villepigue
NORTHAUGUSTA - Mr. Harrington Yates Villepigue, 94, of North Augusta, SC, husband of forty-seven years to Mrs. Violet Weathersbee Villepigue, entered into rest on Sunday, November 19,2017.
Born in Camden, SC, he was a son of the late John M. and Lucia Yates Villepigue. He served his country in United States Army during World War II, in the third Army in Europe, from February of 1945 until the war ended. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career with E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant in 1952, from which he retired in 1986.
Yates was an Episcopalian, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Midland Valley Country Club, the Aiken and North Augusta Artists Guild and the Augusta Sailing Club. He was formerly a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Yates was an Artist, painting primarily airplanes and ships. He loved airplanes and flew his own plane for many years out Daniel Field, Augusta. As mentioned above, Yates was a proud graduate of Clemson University and was an avid Tiger fan. GO TIGERS!!
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include a brother Jack Yates who was killed in World War II, sister-in-law's, Barbara and her husband Josh Warren Clearwater, SC and Judy and her husband, John Clark, Valdosta, GA and a cousin, Sloane and her husband, Robert Kane, Lottsburg, VA.
The family will receive friends on (this evening) Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Graniteville, SC. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 1 o'clock in the Quaker Cemetery, Camden, SC.
