WARRENVILLE, SC - Mr. Herbert "Bud" Hurst, husband of Mrs. Merriam Hadden Hurst, of Grace Hurst Road, entered into rest on Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home.
Born in Bath, SC to the late Henry McCall and Grace Toole Hurst, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Mt. Olympus and the USS McComb. He was the Owner and Operator of Industrial Tool and Engineering for 35 years, worked for Graniteville Company for ten years in the maintenance shop and taught machine shop at Leavelle McCampbell for nine years. He was a member of Pentecost United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. A member of the Star Masonic Lodge #99, the Jamil Temple, Columbia, SC and the Aiken Shrine Club where he "loved being a clown" in their parades. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and farming.
Surviving with his wife, Merriam Hadden Hurst, of Warrenville, SC are three children: Linda Hurst, Lexington, SC, Diane Earnest (Terry), Warrenville, SC and Herbie Hurst (Lynn), North Augusta, SC; a brother, Charles Hurst, Lugoff, SC; two sisters, Lucille Drennan, North Augusta, SC and Cookie Smith (Smitty), Wedowee, AL; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Pentecost United Methodist Church with Reverend Susan Maddox and Reverend Julius Hadden, Jr. officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites accorded by Star Lodge #99 will follow Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Drennan, Wayne Hadden, Reed Miller, Morgan Jones, David Parrish, and John Rhoden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pentecost United Methodist Church, PO Box 578, Warrenville, SC 29851, Epworth Children's Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250 or a .
The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 1 o'clock until service time at Pentecost United Methodist Church.
