Howard Lee Miller
WOODSTOCK, GA - Howard Lee Miller, age 101, died November 16, 2017, in Woodstock, GA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nola Mae Lowrimore Miler and his second wife, Ida Davis Miller.
Mr. Miller was born on July 9, 1916, in Cumberland Furnace, TN, son of the late Arthur and Kathryn Workman Miller. As a young boy, his family moved to the farming community of Quemado Valley, TX. During World War II, he worked in Washington State on the Manhattan and Hanford Projects. In the early 1950s he moved his family to South Carolina to work for the DuPont Company at the Savannah River Project near Aiken, SC. Mr. Miller was a resident of Aiken for over 50 years where he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. In 2002 he moved to the retirement community of Sandpiper Village in Mount Pleasant, SC, and in 2016 he moved to Brookdale Assisted Living in Woodstock, GA. He enjoyed trading cars, boating, fishing, going to the Masters' golf tournament, attending family reunions, and taking vacations at his beach house on Sullivan's Island.
He is survived by his daughter, Billie Gibson and her husband, Tom, of Houston, TX; daughter, Janice Lovell and grandson, Edward Keith Lovell of Marietta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard Miller will be remembered as a true southern gentleman. He was known for his kindness, generosity and his wonderful sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Miller expressed the wish that friends and family would perform an act of kindness in his memory.
A private graveside service was held at the Sunset Memory Cemetery near Aiken, SC on Sunday, November 19, 2017.
