AIKEN, SC - Jacquelyn Elizabeth (James) Patterson, 88, of Aiken, SC passed away on March 10, 2016. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken, SC on Friday, March 18th at 2:00 pm.
Born in Detroit, MI on July 6, 1927, Jackie was the only child of John and Ethel (Walker) James. She graduated from the University of Michigan, where she met Pat, her husband of 64 years.
They married in 1949. As the wife of an Air Force officer, Jackie lived in many locations across the country and beyond, raising three boys while playing active roles in each new community.
Jackie's profound faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her commitment to friends and relatives, across the miles and decades, was a remarkable affirmation of her faithfulness and support of those who had touched her life. She was a steadfast friend. She was committed to helping those less fortunate. Jackie enjoyed her daily walks, catching up with distant friends and relations, her bowling league, and concerts in the park.
Jackie was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband Col. (USAF, ret.) George Arthur Patterson and her son, Col. (USAF, ret.) Christopher Jon Patterson.
Survivors include her special companion, William "Bill" Beranek, of Aiken; sons; Timothy Walker Patterson (Terry) of Fort Mill, SC and James MacKenzie Patterson (Kelly) of Wagener, SC; daughter-in-law, Terri Dial Patterson of Monument, CO; grandchildren, Erin Patterson Staltare (Joseph), Nicholas James Patterson (Sharon), and Ryan Christopher Patterson, all of Monument; Rainey Elizabeth Patterson (Austin Garland, fiance;) of Gainesville, FL, and Reed MacKenzie Christopher Patterson of Wagener. She was proud to have recently welcomed her first great-grandchild into the world, Nixon River Patterson of Monument.
