James A. Johnson, Sr.
AIKEN - Mr. James A. Johnson, Sr, age 80, husband of Janice P. Johnson, of 1243 Hatchaway Bridge Rd entered eternal life, Monday, July 7, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Montmorenci Missionary Baptist Church, (Viewing 12-1PM) 37 Old Barnwell Rd with Rev Timothy O Williams officiating.
James A. Johnson Sr. "J.B." was born on November 10, 1933 in Aiken County, South Carolina to the late Frank Trowell and Anna Rose John-son. He attended Radnor High School in Pennsylvania and graduated soon after. He Enlisted in the Air Force and served for 4 years.
He was employed by the U.S. Government at Sandia National Laboratories on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 35 years. He joined the Montmorenci Missionary Baptist Church in 2004.He served as a deacon, also a Member of the male chorus, a member of the Christian Community Club, and a Sunday School superintendent.
He is survived by his widow, Janice Pearl Johnson, of Aiken, SC; six children, Judy (Nathaniel) (Rebecca) Johnson Jr. of Austin, TX, Janice (Virgil) Johnson-Shephard of Austin, TX, Pamela Carroll of Albu-querque, N.M., Patrick (Anna) Carroll of Albuquerque, NM, Patricia (Jason) Ross-Nickols of Albuquerque, NM; five sisters, Frances Gomillion of Jamacia, NY, Dr. Irene Trowell-Harris of Arlington, VA., Mae (Cyril) Brown of Lutz, FL and Sherrie (Willie) Perry of Aiken, SC, Gloria Sydnor of Philadelphia; PA; three brothers, Franklin (Mary) Trowell, Lafayette (Inez) Trowell, Crey (Novie) Trowell all of Aiken, SC; one uncle, Rev. Jacob C. (Mary) Trowell of Augusta, GA; one Aunt, Lillie Mae Trowell of Aiken, SC; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 5-6PM.
