James E. Bechtold
AIKEN, SC - James
Edward Bechtold, 89, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at his residence following a battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Janice Spaulding Bechtold and Edward Bechtold of Erie, PA.
Jeb graduated from East High School, Erie, PA, served as an Air Force radio operator and radar technician during World War II.
After the war, Jeb attended Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1957 and graduated with honors. He was the owner and designer of 'Jeb's Shirts and Skirts' with stores in Scottsdale, Arizona, Los Angeles, Brentwood, and Beverly Hills, CA with a couture line of clothing, in the 1960's. Then he became the owner of Von Housen Studios; which made precast concrete statues and fountains, found throughout southern California.
Jeb will be missed for his kindness, multiple interests and especially, his sense of humor.
Jeb's greatest love was his horse of 25+ years, Lady Gerlanda. She was a Hanavarian broodmare and the winner of numerous awards and ribbons. Jeb had a very close relationship with Lady G.
Jeb leaves several cousins and his goddaughter Mrs. (David) Laura Lewis of New Brighton, PA and their children, Kate and Nicholas. Dear friends Kate Hutchings, Derry and Fulton Jeffers of Maryland and Rose Marie Bogley of Upperville, Virginia.
