LEESVILLE - Services for James M. "Carty" Black, 72, will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Union Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Memorials may be made to the .
Mr. Black passed away Monday, June 5, 2017. Born in Saluda County, he was the son of the late James Pope and Mamie Hyler Black. He was a member of Union Lutheran Church, served in the National Guard, and retired from BellSouth with 26 years of service. His passions were family, fishing, and working in the garden.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Doreen Oswalt Black, daughters, Janet Ricard (Benji) and Ginger Henson (Carl); sister, Frances Neal; grandchildren, Taylor and Mitchell Buzhardt, Emily Ricard, and Hyler Henson. He was predeceased by sisters, Juanita Edwards and Myrtle Rodgers.
