James Richard Hess
NEW ELLENTON, SC - James Richard Hess, 85, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Montgomery, WV, James was a son of the late Bennie and Mary Huddleston Hess. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the Korean War. James moved to Aiken County in the early 1950's and retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Site. He was the former owner of the Sugar Shack and was a member of the New Ellenton VFW Post 5877.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Ann Worley (Gaines), Elk City, OK, Brenda Sue Herron, Aiken, SC and Barbara Kay Pearson, Graniteville, SC; a son, James Michael Hess (Michelle),
Jackson, SC; thirteen grandchildren, Brent, Cassidy, Jackie, Dana, Toni, Christy, Brad, Tammy, James, Clint, Dale, Jennifer, Dillon; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Hess (Julia), Montgomery, WV.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
