Joyce Marie Estes Hicks
AIKEN - Mrs. Joyce Marie Estes Hicks, of 252 East Boundary Ave, daughter of the late James Estes and Thelma Hatcher Estes was born on March 23, 1942 in Aiken, SC. She gained her heavenly wings on Saturday August 2, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 8, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Strawther, Eulogist (Viewing 10-11 AM) and Rev. Nathan Smalls, Pastor.
She joined Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age, where she served and worshiped her entire life. She taught Sunday school, Bible school, sang on the choir, and recently served as President of the United Methodist Woman's Organization. She is a life-long member of the AKA Sorority.
Joyce graduated from Martha Schofield High School in 1960 and Claflin University in Orangeburg SC in 1964.
She was an educator by profession and taught school for more than 30 years in SC and Delaware.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Hicks, parents, and sister, Thelma Chandler, while leaving to cherish her memory; a son, Dwayne Hicks, cousin, Leroy Bates (Jackie), numerous other relatives, family, and loving friends.
