Julia Mae Addison
BEECH ISLAND, SC - Mrs. Julia Mae Addison was the first born, of twelve to the late Lawrence and Emily Robinson on October 10, 1925 in Langley, SC. She attended the segregated schools of Aiken County. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class.
At a tender age, Julia joined the St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend D.W. Hickson.
In 1959, Julia wedded the late Curtis Cordell Addison, Sr. at the St. John Baptist Church where she held membership. Within this union, she embraced his children: "Cardy" and Stuart.
Julia was known for being a very smart, articulate, and classy lady. She was a housewife that favored antiques, collectibles, and high-heeled shoes. Often times, she could be found reciting the "23rd Psalms" to family and friends or sharing the family history around Sunday dinner.
On Monday, July 27th, Julia departed this earthly life after 89 years of loving, caring, and sharing special moments for all who came in contact with her. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Emily; her husband, Cordell; a brother, Freddie "Chick"; and two sisters: Louise Martin and Maggie Huff.
She leaves to cherish her fondest memories to her two stepsons: Curtis Jr. and Stuart of New Jersey; eight loving siblings: Ameila (Hank) Gray of New York, Priscilla Robinson of Langley, SC, Larency Robinson of Langley, SC, Thelma Jefferson of Langley, SC, Elizabeth Wright (caregiver) of Beech Island, SC, Arthur Lee (Ida) of New York, Allen Kenneth (Glenda) Robinson of Clearwater, SC, and Larry Robinson of Langley, SC; five step grandchildren: Hekima, Malik, Mya, Stuart Jr., and Nikita; ten step great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Walter Huff of Aiken, SC, a special adopted nephew, Jordan Mayfield of Beech Island, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends..
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. John Baptist Church, 286 Huber Clay Rd, Langley, SC (Viewing Noon to 1 PM) with Rev. Dr. Curtis J. Blocker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 PM.
