Karen Denese Williams
BEECH ISLAND - Mrs. Karen Denese Williams, affectionately called "Niecy" was born March 1, 1966, to proud parents Willie James and Beatrice Williamson Bryant. She quietly departed this life Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Augusta, GA.
She was the oldest of four children. One sister (Wanda Bryant) preceded her in death.
Karen received her formal education in the Aiken County Public School District, Silver Bluff High School, Class of 1984; and furthered her education by obtaining Bachelors and Masters of Science Degrees in Education. She also graduated from Daughters of the Promise (DOP) in 2010 where she was commissioned as a Minister of Dance by Pastor Michelle Rucker, Leader. She served as co-leader of the Athens Division of DOP.
Karen was united in marriage with Robert Williams in 1986. To this union, two sons were born, Curtis Jeremiah (CJ) and Joshua Caleb.
She was employed as an educator in both Clarke and Richmond County School Districts. As a teacher, she cared for each of her students as if they were her own children. She worked tirelessly to ensure each of the children she was assigned had the best chance to succeed.
She was a faithful and dutiful member of Timothy Baptist Church where she combined her love of God and children with her passion for Fine Arts while serving in the following leadership roles in the praise dance ministry: Co-Director, Timothy Baptist Church Fine Arts Ministry (five years); State of Georgia Liturgical Dancers (member twelve years; State Director, six years) and Athens District Director of Dance for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship (six years).
After relocating to her hometown, she reinstated her membership at the Runs Missionary Baptist Church where she was instrumental in the development of the youth dance ministry.
