Laura Hicks
ISLE OF PALMS - Mrs. Laura Taylor Ware Hicks, 87, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at her IOP residence where she lived when not at her primary residence in Aiken.
Born in Aiken, Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Bertie Shellhouse Taylor. She retired as a customer service manager with Southern Bell Telephone Company. Mrs. Hicks enjoyed participating as a member of the Southern Bell Pioneers and attended Aiken's First Baptist Church. She had a generous spirit and was loved by many. Spending time with her family and friends brought joy and meaning to her life and she delighted in the small children within her family - and within her Aiken community. One of the many things Laura enjoyed was watching the boats come and go through the marina in Isle of Palms.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Larry L. (Jeannie) Ware, Isle of Palms, SC; grandchildren Lori Ware Morrow, Clay Crouch; great-grandchildren, Reilly Jean Morrow, Charles William Staley Morrow and a great number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lamar Ware, second husband, William O. Hicks; sisters, Velma T. Couch, Dorothy T. Brown, Kathleen T. Cynova, Mildred T. Banes, Ruth T. Walton, Marjorie T. Thomas, Mary T. McLean, and brothers John W. Taylor and Joseph L. Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017, at 12:00 PM at the Shellhouse Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse Funeral Home immediately prior to the 12:00 PM service. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
