WINDSOR - A Celebration of Life Service for Leonard Keith Allen, 78, of Windsor, SC will be held two pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church Windsor with the Reverend Wesley Kinard officiating. The family will receive friends from one pm until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Mr. Allen passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home.
Born in Mississippi he was a son of the late Walter Eugene Allen and Mildred Massey Allen. Mr. Allen worked as a self-employed sub-contractor in carpets, carpentry and plumbing; he owned and operated the Carpet Shop in Aiken for a number of years. He worked on the Mercury Astronaut program and with the jet engines maintenance for the Thunder Birds. He was a US Air Force veteran and was a member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church Windsor, SC.
Survivors include his daughter Donna (George) Erbe of Windsor; former wife Pauline Widener Allen of Windsor; sister Mildred Sue (Donald) Smith of Lexington; brother Raymond (Jean) Allen of Beaufort; two grandchildren Maggie (Nathan) McCrackin of Gilbert, Alyssa Ann Allen of Aiken; two great-grandchildren Tyler John Woody, Annslee Summer McCrackin and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Leigh Ann Allen Woodward; sons John Andrew Allen, Steven Keith Allen; sisters Doris A. White, Hazel Grace Cook; brothers Wayne and Bill Allen.
