Lorenia Widener Walker
AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Lorenia Widener Walker, 84, of Aiken, widow of Julian C. "Dude" Walker, died February 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born February 22, 1930 in Aiken, she was one of nine children born to the late Rhett Widener and Minnie Lee Key Widener .
She enjoyed crocheting, and was a wonderful seamstress. She created many beautiful clothes for her children and many for local families. She loved to cook and made many memories while camping in Clark's Hill and Oconee during the summers. She was a member of the Hollow Creek Baptist Church for 60 years, where she could often be found keeping the nursery while her late husband taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Melvin
Julian Walker, her son-in-law, James Franklin Yarbrough, her brother and four sisters.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Joy Walker Yarbrough and Joan Elizabeth Harmon (Stan), both of Aiken; her grandchildren, Brad Harmon (Ashley), Sarah Harmon Waters (Don), Donald Black, Jr. (Janet), and Julian Todd Black (Rene); nine great-grandchildren; her sisters, Irma W. Keenan, Eunice W. Thigpen (Julian) and Marie McKinney, all of Aiken.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00-3:30PM
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 3:30PM at Hollow Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Morgan and Dr. Thompson officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin and Shawn Adcock, Christian, Donnie and Todd Black, Brad Harmon and Don Waters.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons from Hollow Creek Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Walker's memory to the church.
