Lucille Pearson
AIKEN - Family and friends are celebrating the life of Aiken resident Lucille V. Pearson, who passed away Saturday at the age of 93.
She was an avid golfer and formerly a member of Houndslake Country Club in Aiken and the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club in Odessa, FL. But what Lucille's family will remember most fondly is her wont of travel and the ease with which she made friends.
Born May 25, 1924 in Chartierville, Quebec, Canada, the eldest daughter of Paul and Analda Lallier Rouleau, Lucille grew up on a country farm and at 11 years of age became caretaker of her siblings when her mother suddenly died.
While living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, she worked in factories to support Allied troops in World War II as a Bren Gun Girl, Canada's version of Rosie the Riveter, then turned to becoming a housewife as she moved from coast to coast and from Canada to Mexico and to several states - California, South Carolina, Arizona and Florida, as she raised her family.
She is survived by her children: Pierre St. Denis of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Josee Micillo (Fred) of Tarpon Springs, FL; Sylvie Carey (Burt) of Aiken; Jasmine Hopkins (Steve) of Anderson, S.C.; and sister Marcelle Belisle of Quebec. She had two grandsons: Luke Carey and Christian Carey, both of Aiken. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Pearson, and sisters Jeanne Lariviere and Monica Jenkins.
While she requested that no services be held, donations may be made in Lucille's name to Stepping Stones Outreach Ministries, 102 S. Boundary Ave., New Ellenton, SC 29809.
