Manning Monroe Widener
Manning Monroe Widener suffered a heart attack and passed away on April 11th, 2015 in Kennewick, WA. The son of James Richard Widener and Shirley Sadler Widener, Manning was born in Aiken, SC on February 8, 1954, the oldest of five children.
Manning received his Masters in Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 1980. He taught classes in Chemical Operations and Maintenance at Augusta Technical College. His career as an Engineer included working at sites across the U.S., including Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, GA, and the URS Corporation in Richland, WA.
Manning had a great passion for the game of golf. He played rounds as often as he could and thoroughly enjoyed recounting tales of holes both played and viewed. One such tale: after having played the game for 47 years, Manning made his first hole-in-one on Friday May 21st, 2010. Throughout his life, Manning relished attending the Masters Tournament in August, GA.
Manning is survived by his daughter Lisa Christine Burke and husband Jeff; three sisters, Sharon Sheppard, Karen Schultz and husband Mel, and Linda Pleasant and husband JR; one grandchild, Finley; seven nieces and nephews; and thirteen grandnieces and grandnephews. His sister Dorothy preceded Manning in death.
