WILLISON, SC - Margie Rose Matherly Bailey went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 20, 2015.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held six pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC; the family will receive friends from four pm until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the (Margie's favorite charity), 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or Regency Hospice of Aiken, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803.
Margie had relocated to Pepper Hill Nursing Home recently after living in Greensboro, NC for the past 20 years near her daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Bailey (Larry) Holmquist of Greensboro and a son, Doug (Laura) Bailey of Aiken.
In 1925, she was born in Butler, Tennessee to the late Ed Matherly and Georgia Kress Matherly and was one of 11 children. Her twin sister, three other sisters, and one brother are still surviving. Her husband, James R. Bailey passed away in 1974.
Margie was a caring a compassionate mother, wife, and friend. She loved her family and her church, serving all faithfully until her later years. She was a member of Williston First Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She was an excellent seamstress, sewing for many throughout Barnwell County. She was a talented artist and won several awards for her art in Aiken and in Greensboro.
