Marvin L. Kirkland
STARKVILLE, MS - Marvin L. Kirkland, 89, passed away on December 17, 2017 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. He was a retired teacher with East Mississippi Community College and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in both the U.S. Marine Corp. and the U.S. Navy and also a member of Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Kirkland and Nettie Wood Kirkland.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Katherine Yonce Kirkland of Starkville, MS; daughter, Abbie Misso (Ricky) of Starkville, MS; son, Walter Brent Kirkland of Graniteville, SC; sister, Bobbie Kirkland Newell; grandchildren, Kirk Misso, Griff Misso (Audra); and two great grandchildren, Briley Misso and Alena Misso.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. Dickie Bryan will conduct the service. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
