Mary Bechtold
WILLISTON, SC - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mary Sanders Bechtold, 83, of Williston, SC. eleven am Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Barnwell, SC; Father Wilbroad Mwape will be the celebrant; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from five until seven pm Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Folk Funeral Home in Williston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williston Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853 or the Memorial Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Her family would like to thank the staff at Laurel Baye Health Care in Williston for the wonderful care and support they gave their mother and granny during her extended stay. Mary passed away Friday, January 29, 2016.
Born in Freestyle, Michigan she was a daughter of the late Conrad and Edith Mitts Sanders. She formerly worked for the Department of Social Services in Barnwell, was a devoted member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and was a loving wife, mother, sister, granny and friend. She was a homemaker and was married to the late Charles G. "Chief" Bechtold, Sr., Mary accidently spilt a cup of coffee in his lap while they were serving in the US Army, it was love at first sight.
Survivors include her children, Mary Agnes (Larry) Woelfel of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy (Jerry) Bolen, Cathy Grooms, Joey (Sharon) Bechtold all of Williston and Charles G. (Shari) Bechtold, Jr. of Vaucluse; grandchildren, Michael Bechtold (Johnny Rush), Chris Grooms (Stacie), Courtney Barwick, Jessie (Fred) Bordelon, James Woelfel, Dallas Flowers, Tony Flowers (Bobbie Jean), Dawn Berry, J.J. and James Bechtold; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Konnor, Olivia, Baylee, Jayden, Addison, Maddox, Easton, Beth and Ceciley; sister, Charlotte S. Smith of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; brother,
Wendell Sanders of Hardwood, Michigan; daughter in law, Lynda Bechtold of Boiling Springs; and her favorite cook, Mark Gleaton. She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Russell Bechtold; sister, Carol Lieder; brothers, Eugene Sanders and Sylvester Sanders.
