Mary E. Smith
PORT ROYAL, SC - Mary E. Smith, 84, of Port Royal died peacefully at home Sunday, November 15. She was born in Clacton-On-Sea, Essex England.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur Milnes of New Zealand, husband Lewis A. Smith, and two daughters, Karen Horning and Lynne Volk. She is survived by sons Lewis A. Smith, Jr. (Janet), David B. Smith (Michele) and George J. Smith, daughter Joanne Romine, 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She lived in Aiken over 40 years and worked at Plum Pudding as the local Brit, then moved to Beaufort and volunteered at Beaufort Memorial Hospital's Gift Shop where she became known as "Beaufort's Bloody Brit".
Visitation will be at Cornerstone Christian Church, 2301 First Boulevard, Beaufort at 3:00 Sunday, November 22, followed by a memorial service at 4:00. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory can be made to Cornerstone Christian Church.
Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
