Mary Sue Fisher
INMAN, SC - Mary Sue Johnson Lynch Fisher, 96, passed away September 5, 2016 at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living in Aiken, SC. Born September 23, 1919, in Holly Springs, Spartanburg County, SC, to the late Eber and Mattie Caldwell Johnson, Mrs. Fisher was the youngest of eight children, all deceased: Grace J. McDade, Fay J. Johnson, Hallie J. Souther, RJ Johnson, Reese Johnson, Lucille J. Vaughn, and Etolia J. Blackwood, all who lived in Spartanburg County.
Mrs. Fisher graduated from Holly Springs High School and attended Lander College, Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing, and Cecil's Business College. She worked as office manager for Dr. Rembert Burgess (Spartanburg) for most of her career. She was a dedicated member of Inman First Baptist Church (1941-2016). Mrs. Fisher sang in the choir and taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for many years.
She is survived by two daughters Sue Ann L. Walke of Aiken, SC, and Judy L. Cowell (Tom) of Tega Cay, SC. Mrs. Fisher had seven grandchildren: Wyn Walke, Beth W. Matthews (Woody), John Walke (Enu Mainigi), David Walke (Rieko), Susan Walke (Yohn Medina Vivanco), Margaret A. Black (Christopher), and Mary A. Bergmann (Paul). She was predeceased by loving husbands John Wofford Lynch, Jr., and George Leland Fisher. Mrs. Fisher loved her children, grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 am at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1451 Compton Bridge Rd., Inman, SC. Memorials may be directed to National Office (225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601), Crohns and Colitis Foundation (National Processing Center, Attn: Honor & Memorial Gifts, PO Box 1245, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9976) or Inman First Baptist Church (14 N. Howard St., Inman, SC 29349).
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living for their kindness and care of Mary Sue Fisher, our beloved mother during her six years with them. Special thanks to Carolyn and Leon Johnson for their faithful devotion.
