Mildred Jones
GREENSBORO, NC - Mrs. Mildred Jones, 99, died Monday, February 27, in Greensboro, NC. She was born in Gladstone, Va. on January 21, 1918 to Howard and Ida Fisher. She was valedictorian of her high school class and after graduating, she worked for Standard Oil Co. in Charleston, West Va.
She married Cap Jones in 1937 and in 1951 they moved to Aiken. She lived there until 2003 when she moved to Greensboro, NC, to be near her family.
She was an avid golfer, reader, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed her many years of Master's Tournament attendance.
She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Aiken.
She is survived by her two daughters, Babs Muckenfuss (Wes) of Greensboro, NC, Debby Buchert (Jack) of Indialantic, Fla., two grandsons, Jim Muckenfuss of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Dunbar of Indialantic, Fla., a granddaughter, Lisa Hairr (John)of Charlotte, NC, and a great-grandson,
Carson Hairr of Charlotte, NC.
The family plans a private service at a later date in Aiken.
