Miles 'Jimmy' Watson
AIKEN - Mr. Miles E. "Jimmy" Watson, 70, of Aiken, SC, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018, with his wife of fifteen years, Mrs. Diane Brodie Watson and his family, at his side.
Born and raised in Chesterfield County, SC, he was a son of the late Ben Thomas and Ollie May Watson. A Vietnam War Veteran, he proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home to Chesterfield County. His career in banking took him to Newberry, SC, Aiken, SC and lastly Myrtle Beach, SC, where he retired in 1996, after twenty years of service, from Bank of America. Jimmy came back to Aiken, SC, in 2000. He was a former Rotarian and was also involved with the United Way, during his banking career. Jimmy enjoyed airplanes, a round of golf, working in his yard, telling jokes, random road trips, racing cars and a glass of wine on his back porch. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Chelsea, Taylor, Bryant, Grace, Sophia and Adeline.
In addition to his wife, parents and grandchildren, family members include his children, Miles E. "Mike" Watson, Coward, SC, Dana C, Kyzer, Coward, SC and the late Bryant Watson, step-daughters, Melissa Ouzts, Aiken, SC and Holly Carson and her husband, Andrew, Aiken, SC; siblings, Becky Leviner and her husband, Robert, Fountain Inn, SC, Barbara Johnson and her husband, Keith, Newberry, SC and Esty Watson and his wife, Faye, Rockingham, NC; his former wife and still friend, Carolyn E. Watson, Coward, SC and his best friend of over fifty years, who was more like a brother, Jesse Aaron Butler, Bainbridge, GA.
In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy was cremated and the family will have a Celebration of Life Service at the family residence.
The family has respectively requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the National 9707 E. Easter Lane Ste. B. Centennial, CO 80112 or Camp Happy Days 1 Carriage Lane Stes. 101-102 Charleston, SC 29407, in memory of Taylor, who passed away of Leukemia.
