Nancy Jo Drye
Jackson, SC - Graveside Services for Nancy Jo Drye, 78, of Highland Circle, Jackson, SC, who entered into rest January 14, 2017, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in the Jackson Memorial Park. Dr. Mark Riser officiating.
Nancy was a native of Warrenton, North Carolina, having made Jackson her home for the past 15 years. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College with a Masters in Biology and a background in Chemistry. After graduation, she began an illustrious and rewarding career as a Teacher and Educator of several generations of Stanly County, North Carolina residents in both fields of learning. Nancy was a cultivator in many facets of her life. Whether that was cultivating a strong sense of the importance of the sciences in the field of education, a strong sense of the need to see the country through travel (which she did with all three of her nephews through summer trips) or cultivating a strong garden which she always maintained. Nancy was a strong and independent individual who accomplished many feats such as hiking the Appalachian Trail and frequented white waters to raft down throughout the country. She truly believed that hard work yielded strong results. She will be missed as a sister, an aunt, an educator and a friend, and her memory shall live on in all the lives she has touched.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lynne Drye, Jackson; three nephews, Andrew (Jennifer) Drye, North Augusta, Tyler Drye, Washington, DC and Joseph (Sharon) Drye, Bristol, Tn.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 until 7.
Memorials may be made to Matlock Baptist Church, PO Box 496, Jackson, SC 29831.
