Dr. Nichel Faye Holland-Swindler
HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Nichel was born October 23, 1971 in Fort Lee, VA to MAJ (Ret.) Major Hallie James Holland and Faye Abrams Holland. Surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully passed on December 26, 2016 in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
A 1989 graduate of Columbia High School, Nichel was dedicated to excellence through education, which culminated in earning a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Research from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009. Her career in education began at Alcorn Middle School. She also taught at Hopkins and St. Andrews Middle Schools in Richland District One. Dr. Swindler was most recently employed with the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) School System at Fort Campbell, KY.
Nichel was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted person who possessed strength of character and a quiet elegance that always shone through, even during times of adversity. She was a member of Bible Way Church of Atlas Road in Columbia, SC and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY.
She is survived by her children, Mikayla and Mikale Swindler; MAJ (Ret.) Hallie James Holland, and mother, Faye Abrams Holland; sister, Nicole Holland; two nephews, who were like sons, Darrien Holland and DeForest Williams; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
The homegoing service will be held Friday, December 30, 2016, 2:00 PM at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, Columbia, with burial on Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
