Philip Gerald Banister MB, MPH, FRCPC
Canada - Father, husband, pediatrician, sailor, companion and friend to loved ones in Vancouver, Toronto, and Brockville, Canada; Aiken, S.C. and the UK. Born in England, Philip died peacefully on March 12, 2014 in Canada.
Philip lived a full and constructive eighty-five years, contributing so much to many people in many spheres. Inquisitive and thoughtful to the end, he took great delight in learning and being a quiet promoter of his friends' and family's accomplishments. The love of medicine, the sea, music and his empathy for others defined much of his life. Philip enjoyed performance automobiles and vigorous dinner table debates, the latter a Banister trait he passed on to his children.
Philip is survived by his children Patrick Banister and his partner Susan, Port Hope, Ontario; Pippa Banister, Vancouver, British Columbia; and his family in Aiken including his companion of many years, Gail Stoker; Charlie and Tara Stoker Bostwick; Tara Gail, Eleanor, and Charles Bostwick; Michel and Deirdre Stoker Vaillan-court; Calder, Schuyler, & Desmond Reardon; Dacre & Jenne Stoker; Belle and Parker Stoker.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
