Richard James
Dabolt, Jr.
AIKEN, SC - Richard James Dabolt, Jr., 49, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Kenmore, NY, Richard was a son of Richard James and Joyce Marie Valery Dabolt. He lived in Aiken since 1977, graduated from South Aiken High School and received his B.S. from the USC-Aiken. Richard was a devoted veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served proudly during the first Gulf War. He was a former deputy with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. He enjoyed singing loudly at the B Shift Choir Practice. He was near completion of his Doctorate of Medicine degree, looking forward to changing the world as a physician under his oath to "treat your patients as you would want to be treated....[with] a pair of hands and arms to give a hug and hold a hand...
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Joyce; sister, Michelle Phillips (Eddie Scott); two nephews, Matthew and Patrick Beaver and a niece, Kylee Davis, all of Aiken. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Paul Dabolt. His dearly loved family and friends reached near and far across the globe.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The Funeral service will be Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Richard will be remembered for his generosity of love shared with his family and friends, desire to share a laugh, ability to listen without judging and, on a moments notice, share his hobby of drinking coffee with others as if time never ended. To honor Richard's life and love, gifts may be made to his trust at or directly by visiting a local First Citizens branch under the name Richard J. Dabolt, The Coffee Man.
