Robert Lewis DeBeaugrine
AIKEN, SC - Mr. R.L. DeBeaugrine, 83, entered into rest February 7, 2017.
Lewis grew up in Warrenton, GA and was the son of the late Bob Hubert and Willie Mae DeBeaugrine. He lived in Columbia, SC for many years and was Methodist by faith.
He was a 1954 graduate from The Citadel with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent most of his 32+ year career at Fort Jackson as an Area Engineer. He was revered for his leadership and ability to train young engineers. He was inducted into the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Hall of Fame. He retired in 1988.
Lewis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He dearly loved Daph, his wife of 58 years and they are now reunited to enjoy the life ever after. Love and laughter are guaranteed.
Socializing with family and friends was one of his greatest joys. In other words, he loved to talk and would strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen. He made a positive difference in the lives of many, both personally and professionally.
Lewis was an avid outdoorsman. He loved golf, fishing, hunting and camping.
Alzheimer's robbed him and his family of the past few years, but we have a lifetime of love and memories to cherish.
Survivors include his daughter Kim Warner (Freddy); sons, Joe DeBeaugrine (Angie), Eric DeBeaugrine; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Daphne, brother Catfish and sister Margie Wiggins.
