Robert M. "BoBo" Grimes
JOHNSTON, SC - Robert M. Grimes (BoBo), age 59, entered into rest on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his residence in Johnston.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Voorhees College Gym, Denmark, SC. The burial will follow with military honors in the Eden Baptist Church, Denmark, SC. Viewing will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5:00 PMto 8:00 PM in the Mt. Alpha Baptist Church, 142 West Front St., Ward, SC and on Friday, December 16, 2016, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Denmark Chapel of the Carroll Mortuary, Denmark, SC.
Born July 8, 1957 to Chennie Mae Grimes and the late Monroe Grimes in Bamberg, SC, "BoBo" was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County and was a graduate of Denmark Olar High School, Class of 1975. He served his country with honors while in the SC National Guard from which he retired with 22 years of service. He was employed with SCE&G as a Lineman Supervisor until his health began to fail. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, cooking, and most of all riding his Harley Davidson. He was an expert at wood carving (pipes and walking canes).
BoBo was united in holy matrimony to the former Sharon Dean and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife Sharon of the home; daughters Robin (Will) Simmons of Aiken, SC and Sheree Ware of Johnston, SC; sons Gary (Sandra)Grimes of Augusta, Ga. and Damian Dean of Johnston, SC; brothers Jerome
(Kenisha) Grimes of Orangeburg, SC, Chief Leroy (Denise) Grimes of Denmark, SC, Derrick (Sandra)Grimes of Manassas, VA; sisters Marilyn (Melvin) Ransom of Orangeburg, SC, Charlene Bellinger of Watertown, NY and Tarea (Paris) Mason of Aiken, SC; Brother-in-Law Donell (Carolyn) Dean of Johnston, SC and sister-in-law Goldie Holland of Aiken, SC.
The Denmark Chapel of the Carroll Mortuary will be in charge of the services. Friends may call at the residence in Johnston and at the home of his mother, Chennie Mae Grimes, 59 Hagood Ave., Denmark, SC.
