"Bobby" Nelson
GRANITEVILLE, SC - Mr. Robert W. "Bobby" Nelson, 63, beloved husband of forty-two years to Mrs. Kathy Nelson, entered into rest on Friday, January 23, 2015.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late William Mac "Willie-Mac" Nelson and the late Mary "Frances" Johnson Nelson Powell. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and also did maintenance work at North Augusta Country Club. Bobby enjoyed bowling and had a passion for motorcycles.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include, children, the late Farrell Nelson, Celeste Snellings and her companion, Scott Johnson and Chris Nelson and his wife, Mary, all of Graniteville, SC; siblings, Billy Nelson and his wife, Nancy, North Augusta, SC, Wendi Morris, Augusta, GA and Stacy Nelson, Gloverville, SC; grandchildren, Kameron Nelson, Jeromy Snellings, Katherine Snellings, Christopher Snellings and Christopher Horace Nelson and a great-grandchild, Miah Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, SSGT. Charles T. "Chuck" Powell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor James Young officiating. Veteran's honors will be accorded by a United States Army Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church ( or the Wounded Warrior Project. (
The family will greet friends on Saturday from 1 until 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
