WARRENVILLE, SC - Mrs. Ruth Lee Garland Quirk, 88, widow of Mr. James John "Jimmy" Quirk, entered into rest on Sunday, October 18, 2015.
Born in Georgia and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Whitfield Garland. Mrs. Quirk was a Homemaker and was a member of Howlandville Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing and dancing.
In addition to her husband and parents, family members include her children, Judy Brown and her husband, the late Thomas, Edgefield, SC, Catherine Burckhalter and her husband, Jack, Aiken, SC, the late Margaret Hatcher and her husband, Jerry, Sue Smoak and her husband, Andy, Gloverville, SC; siblings, Gene Garland and his wife, Brenda, Graniteville, SC, Betty Saunders, Augusta, GA, Barbara Dillson, Chattanooga, TN, Wynell Knight, Evans, GA, the late Beulah Smith, the late Ernest G. Garland, Jr., the late Rudolph Garland and the late Christine Brantley; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 4 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor
Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the Historic Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Murtis Benton, Jeremy Holsonback, Aaron Smoak, Paul Turner and Michael Woodward. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tracy Brown, Lee Benton, Stephanie Holsonback, Erin Turner, Marcia Woodward and Elaine Smoak.
Due to her love for animals, the family has asked that memorials in memory of Mrs. Quirk be made to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare. (
The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 3 until 4 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
