PERRY, SC - Mrs. Susie Gunter Cooper, 85, affectionately known as "MeMa", "Susie Q", slipped away to heaven surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, February 19, 2017.
Mrs. Cooper was the wife for 60 years of the late Cecil Cooper. She was the mother of Rodney (late Catherine) Cooper, Linda (Mark) Redd, and Terry (Ray) Bolen, grandmother of Cecil Rodney "Ron" (Lisa) Cooper, Jr., Mandy Leigh (Paul) Hartley, James Lee (Shelia) Rutland, Rusty Redd, Scottie (Brandy) Redd, Brodie (Kolby) Redd, Cody (Katherine) Redd, and
Raymond E. (Heather) Bolen, Jr.; great grandmother of Dalton Blake Cooper, Wyatt Douglas Cooper, Danny Rutland, Justin Rutland, Brandon Rutland, Jesse Redd, Aidan Redd, Toby Redd, Alexis Redd, Lucy Redd, Walker Bolen, Jolie Bolen, Jason Hartley, Joseph Edwards, and the late Morgan Seth Cooper. Mrs. Susie was the last of 14 children, and the daughter of the late Kit and Mattie Hall Gunter. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters in law, and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of Perry First Assembly of God Church. She retired from Wagener Manufacturing and was the former co-owner of Merchandise Mart in Clearwater. She loved working, camping, fishing and spending time with the grands and greats. Mrs. Susie loved her family.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 2 pm in the Perry First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Roger Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family expresses their grateful appreciation to Evelyn Brown, Helen Leach, Emmie Dale Hutto, and Pruitt Healthcare. Special thanks to Norma Tibbs and Elizabeth Edington for the loving care they gave our Mother.
