Tayo Carrizales
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Tayo Carrizales, 19, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014, in Columbia, SC. He graduated from North Augusta High School in 2013. He was attending the University of South Carolina as a Capstone Scholar and was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. Tayo deeply believed in justice, equality, and used his intelligence to persuade others for all he believed was right. Tayo was inherently kind to everyone that he met, often helping them through their problems, and challenging others to be better. He read extensively, enjoying Roald Dahl, WWII history, and Calvin and Hobbes at a very young age. He was studying to be a doctor so that he could comfort others. Tayo was reflective, creative, and curious - and he loved a challenge, whether a good book, a task, a puzzle, a joke, or a hard question. But he was sure in what he knew and believed. He believed that heaven is the time we spend on earth and he lived each day fully. He never answered a question with "I don't know". He was an advocate for introspection, for himself, in the classroom, and in the lives of those he loved. Tayo was fun and spontaneous - he could make a special night out of a dull evening - and he was always active, whether weightlifting, rowing, playing soccer, football, or rugby. He was a leader in a quiet and always thoughtful way. As one close friend says, "He is a great man." Tayo leaves behind everyone who will continue to cherish, treasure, and love him.
