Mr. Tom Gilliland, Jr.
North Augusta, SC - Memorial Services for Mr. Tom Gilliland, Jr., 54, who entered into rest March 21, 2014, will be conducted Saturday evening at 6 o'clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel with Veteran Honors. Interment will be private.
Mr. Gilliland was a native of North Augusta, SC, having resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia prior to returning to the CSRA 30 years ago. He was a graduate of First Colonial High School, received the Athletic High School All American Award and was inducted into the Virginia High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Gilliland attended WestPoint Military Academy and graduated from Clinch Valley College in Wise, VA. He was a Christian, a United States Army Veteran and owner and operator of Auto Center Sales and Transport. Mr. Gilliland coached for fifteen years at the North Augusta Parks and Recreation Department, and coached Arena Football which led them to a World Championship. He was an avid NASCAR and college sports fan.
Survivors include his daughter, Katye Gilliland, North Augusta, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Dana Kendrick, Greenville, SC; his parents, Thomas O. Gilliland, Sr. and Corrie B. Gilliland, North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren, Parker Kendrick and Carter Kendrick; one brother, Darrell Gilliland, North Augusta, SC; a sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Brian Coleman, North Augusta, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; the mother of his daughter, Kathy Gilliland, Greenville, SC; his significant other, Kelli Moore, Six Mile, SC;
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
