Tom Goforth
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas M. "Tom" Goforth, 76, of Oakhurst Drive, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest November 8, 2016, will be conducted Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Reverend Jerry Garvin officiating. Interment in Westview Cemetery with Veterans Honors rendered by The American Legion Jessie C. Lynch Memorial Post #71.
Mr. Goforth was a native of Harlan, Kentucky, having made North Augusta his home for the past 49 years. He was a US Army Veteran of Viet Nam having obtained the rank of Captain and served as the Commander of the 101st Airborne. Mr. Goforth retired from the Aiken County School System with 30 years of service and served as a member and Vice Chairman of the Aiken County School Board. He was a member of The American Legion Jessie C. Lynch Memorial Post #71, 40 & 8 Volture 1177, a member of the Board of Directors of "Funding for Scholars" and a former Head Coach with the Augusta Eagles Semi-Pro Football Team
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Lynn Goforth; a son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Nicole Goforth, North Augusta; three daughters, Kim Gracey, Martinez, Jennifer and Pasquale Arace, Pittsfield, MA and Ashlee and Rance O'Neal, North Augusta; eleven grandchildren, Cameron Arace, Justin Arace, Alessandra Arace, Isabella Arace, Landon Arace, Chloe' Goforth, Abby Goforth, Emma Goforth, Anna Logan, Saylor Logan and Macy Logan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of The American Legion Jessie C. Lynch Memorial Post #71. Active Pallbearers will be Eddie Watkins, Kenneth Farley, Clay McGlouthin, Alex Goforth, Dr. Bill Gallman, Bob Ramsey, Jim Inman and Paul Inglett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening from 5 until 7.
