ASHEVILLE, NC - Virginia "Ginger" McChesney Anderson, 69, of Asheville, died Monday, January 30, 2017.
A native of North Augusta, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia McChesney. Ginger attended Montreat Anderson College, and received a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Southern University. She taught home economics at Owen High School and Rugby Middle School, and more recently worked in the business office of White Knight and Milkco.
Along with her daughter, she was active as "Ginger, A Sewing Machine" selling pocketbooks and children's dresses on Etsy. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting.
Surviving are husband of 45 years, Henry "Ken" Anderson; daughter, Ginny Marie Anderson Ray and husband Phillip; son, Charles Kenneth Anderson; brother, Samuel J. McChesney, Jr. and wife
Pennye; brother-in-law Bill Anderson and wife Sandy; and nieces and nephews, Paul McChesney, Mille Skinner (Billy), Jennifer Critchet (Don), Michael Anderson (Beth), and Billy Anderson (Donna). She is also survived by many cousins including Michael Henson, whom she grew up with, as well as numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service
