Walter Leonard Gunter
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Graveside Services for Mr. Walter Leonard Gunter, 90, who entered into rest March 12, 2014, will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.
Mr. Gunter was a life-long resident of Aiken County and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. Mr. Gunter retired from SCE&G with 30 years of service and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Gunter; a sister, Helen G. Richardson.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth H. Gunter; three daughters, Pamela G. Blanton (Wallace), Gaffney, SC, Joy G. Krueger (Russ), Augusta, GA and Lisa G. Connell, Columbia, SC; two brothers, James Gunter and Ralph Gunter, both of Clearwater, SC; four grandchildren, Trey Kirkland, Summer Parker, John Krueger and Dylan Connell; two great-grandchildren, Anderson Parker and Ashlyn Parker.
The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. William J. Thurmond, III for his many years of care.
