Wayne R. Swiger
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Wayne Russell Swiger of North Augusta, SC passed peacefully December 20, 2016. He was born in Salem, West Virginia on January 19, 1947 to Lester Oral and Geraldine Dennison Swiger.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 11 AM at Providence Baptist Church in Johnston, SC. The family will receive friends after the service.
Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a special education teacher until his retirement in 2013 and received many awards and accolades throughout his career. In his spare time, he enjoyed deer hunting, classic cars, listening to music, and playing with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Golden Swiger, whom he married on April 16, 1966, and his four children: Brian Wayne Swiger of Raleigh, NC, Bradford Lewis (Melissa) Swiger of Johnston, SC, Lora Diane (Wayne) Lamberth of North Augusta, SC, and Christopher Schuyler (Jessica) Swiger of North Augusta, SC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Wilkins Swiger, Zaine Swiger, Lance (Cody) Swiger, Austin Swiger, J.T. Anson, Ruby Lamberth, Rose Lamberth, Riley Swiger, and Avery Swiger.
