Jesse David Reed, 68 of Sterling, was born Nov. 12, 1944 in Denver and died Sun., Feb. 3, 2013 after a brief illness. No services will be held.
Mr. Reed was born in Denver to Alton Reed and Francis (Leach) Reed. In 1946 the family moved to Brush then on to Akron about one month later. Because of his father's job with the Burlington Railroad, the family moved to Yuma in 1950 where Jesse attended school until 1956, at which point the family moved back to Akron, where Jesse finished his school years, graduating from Akron High School in 1963.
Mr. Reed always loved to work and at a young age frequently asked to wash windows at a store or gas station. He began working for Perk Odell while attending high school. Jesse began with washing windows and ended up as a butcher in the meat market until 1965 when he moved to Sterling and worked as a butcher in several stores, including U-Save Supers and Sixth Street. Jesse was a professional at what he did and was considered a master in his profession.
He met the love of his life, Shirley Price, and they married on Oct. 2, 1971. Jesse had retired and remained in Sterling until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane Holton; sister-in-law Phyllis Jones, brother-in-law, Roy Holton, brother-in-law Bob Reinhart and special pets Opie and Otis
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Shirley; his good friend and sister-in-law Sue; his sister-in-law Judy; brother Alton (Nancy) Reed from Brush; brothers-in-law Jim Price, Bob Price and Tom Price; sisters: Etta Rinehart from Akron, Dona (Jon) Glover and Sharon (Larry) Fehrn from Fort Lupton; special pets Maggie and Flossie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
